Dubrovnik Knezev Dvor

Dubrovnik is the city of great cultural and creative life. Beside regular theatre, cinemas, concerts and galleries, Dubrovnik has two main festivals that are held annually in the town:

Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Dubrovacke Ljetne Igre) – This is the most significant yearly cultural event  - the traditional Dubrovnik Summer Festival, festival that takes place between 10th of July and 25th of August each year. It started in 1950 and it is the most prestigious summer festival in Croatia.

The festival includes theatre and classical music performances as well as folk music events. The opening ceremonial takes place at Stradun and usually includes fireworks too.

Various concerts and plays take place on numerous open-air stages throughout the Dubrovnik Old town - Tower Lovrijenac, Tower Revelin, Square Gunduliceva Poljana and Square Drziceva Poljana. Some performances take place at stages inside the famous Dubrovnik buildings such as Crkva Svetog Vlaha, Knezev Dvor, Sponza ...

In addition to attracting the best Croatian national artists and folklore ensembles, the Festival programme usually includes some well known international artists too.

Theatre stages feature the plays of Shakespeare, Molière, Držić, Gundulic as well as some Greek tragedians. Tickets are available on-line at this link.
