Me and my boyfriend will be travelling from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo in July and would like to stop on the way and spend 3 or 4 hours in Mostar to see old bridge before proceeding to Sarajevo.

Is it good idea to take a private tour that would drive us from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo, but give us a look around Mostar for a 3 hours or we can do the whole thing by public transport?

Any suggestion is appreciated, thank you

If you get up early in the morning and get the first bus from Dubrovnik to Mostar (8am) you will have enough time to explore Mostar for few hours and take bus from Mostar to Sarajevo (depart 17:00 approx). In my opinion there is no need to take private tour for this trip, you can do it by public transport in a day.
So departing from Dubrovnik at 8 am, spending few hours in Mostar and arriving in Sarajevo about 9 pm seems to me as nice and affordable day trip.

Public transport is much cheaper than private transfer, the total for two buses, one to Mostar and another to Sarajevo is about 220 kuna. Private transfer will cost you much much more.
