We are travelling to Dubrovnik next month and wondering whether to exchange GBP sterling pounds £ for Kuna HRK in before we travel?

We have heard some people say we won’t get as good a rate as if we exchange once over there, yet some bureaux de change charge commission and some don’t?

People have advised to exchange a small amount in the UK then exchange the larger amount once over there.

I was wondering to what extent they will accept Euro as payment?

I have heard that some bars and restaurants accept them even though it is not the official currency?

I’m just looking for the best combination/cheapest way of exchanging £££ GBP to HRK?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you to exchange small amount of money in Kuna in Uk to have to start with, maybe 300 kuna (£35) and for the rest just use ATM machines in Dubrovnik. You can ask in your bank in UK what is the exchange rate and once here in Dubrovnik check which rate is currently here and compare.

If you do internet banking you can check every day what is the exchange rate in your bank and compare it with exchange rate in atm machine or exchange office in Dubrovnik. And pay everything in Kuna as this is the only legal currency here.
