The Clock Tower
Dubrovnik’s Clock Tower, an elegant 31 m high timepiece, dating from 15th century is a magnificent landmark of the Old Town.
It is located at the very end of Stradun, next to Sponza Palace in Luža Square .
The clock tower overlooks Orlando’s Column and Sveti Vlaho Church.
Two bronze figures, the bell strikers, popular ‘zelenci’ (green twins) are locally called Maro and Baro.
The best time to be at Stradun and enjoy the pleasant and well known tune of Tower’s chiming antique bells is every day at the Noon.
If I’m in the Old Town around the Noon, I never miss an opportunity to listen to the chimes.
The tower was last time repaired and renovated in 1929. See how it looks nowadays and check its location on the map (16)
